Chaucer's color pattern fields have been an ongoing exploration of the space around us. These artworks introduce references to subject matter to help access the concepts of space and resonance with reality through the relativity of ideas, and layers of complexity.
The three paintings in this exhibition intend to present Chaucer's color pattern fields with subject matter as reference to his Moments of Insight Series. The Float, with Spheres depict depth and context for the eye to wander through. Spheres as bocce balls float across a Maine landscape reaching out to the background. Clouds, waves, and beach combine to stretch into the distance. The matrix of color and objects around us mimics the matrix of people, beliefs, and time. This is the same subject matter Chaucer works with in a purely atmospheric painting with color and pattern as the only subject matter. Live and in person, or conceptually, we work our way through time and space.
